DHH and Naval split on what free Adobe clones actually prove

A set of Adobe products reimplemented from scratch as free and open source set off an argument about whether that is disruption or a knockoff. DHH asked how many pencils, humans and hours recreating the Adobe suite by hand would have taken, and when told it was just a discounted knock-off, answered that the discount is 100%.

Yeah, the discount is 100%. Unsurprisingly that appeals to a lot of people who are tired of Adobe's subscription dark patterns.
