levelsio turns "software is dead" into a vlog

His answer to what is left when AI can build everything is "many things actually", with no numbers attached yet.

levelsio posted a vlog asking what is left to do when AI can build everything. His own answer, in the post itself, is "Many things actually!" He credits @PeterSantenello, @girdley, @theo, @marclou, @robj3d3 and @frederickjames for inspiring him to start vlogging.

The vlog follows a shorter post where he declared software dead and said we are now in the era of personal software, where everyone builds what they need whenever they need it. That is the thesis the video is answering, or at least softening. A man who says software is dead is now making a video about all the work that remains.

What is actually behind it

Not much, yet. The sources here are two posts from one person. There are no revenue figures, no churn data, no customer count, nothing showing a software business losing paying users because those users went and built the tool themselves. levelsio does not claim otherwise, and he hedges his own line with "I think".

It does sit next to his earlier argument that software is in a race to the bottom and founders might be better off buying Big Tech stock. Same direction of travel, same absence of a spreadsheet. The man is thinking out loud in public, which is the service he provides, but thinking out loud is not evidence.

The business read

If personal software were already eating small SaaS, the first signal would be churn in cheap, single-purpose tools, the ones a user could plausibly rebuild in an afternoon with an agent. Nobody in these sources has posted that number. Until someone does, "software is dead" is a vibe with a large audience attached, and the useful half of the claim is the quieter one, that there are still many things left to do.

Worth watching whether levelsio keeps vlogging and whether he eventually puts data behind the thesis. He has the traffic numbers to do it if he wants to.
