levelsio wants a lifetime X ban for a single AI reply

He posted no numbers, and X has said nothing.

levelsio is asking X for a zero tolerance policy on AI replies. One AI reply, he says, and the account is suspended for life.

His reasoning is short. Replies are a nightmare now and he says it has never been this bad. He calls AI replies an existential threat to the future of the platform, because people will simply stop using it if the vast majority of replies are AI bots.

That is the whole post. No screenshots, no counts of how many bot replies he is seeing, no before and after. It is one founder with a large audience describing what his mentions feel like, and X has not responded.

Why a founder should care

This is the second time in a week he has pointed at the same problem from a different angle. He said earlier that AI replies had given way to AI emails in his inbox, the same generated-text flood arriving through a different door. The reply timeline version matters more commercially, because replies are where a lot of small software businesses still get found for free.

The mechanism he describes is worth sitting with even without data behind it. Nobody leaves a platform because bots exist. They leave because the signal gets expensive to find, and then posting stops being worth the effort, and then the people whose replies you wanted are gone too. If that is happening, it happens quietly and no one announces it.

It is also a proposal nobody has to take seriously. A lifetime ban triggered by one detected AI reply would need detection that works, and false positives on that policy would be brutal for anyone who drafts with a model. levelsio did not address either problem.

The business read. Treat this as a weather report from someone who lives in his replies, not as a measurement. If free distribution on X is a real line in your acquisition, the useful move is to check your own reply quality rather than wait for a platform rule that may never come.
