Theo says T3 Code has passed 400,000 users

The number is big and it is the only number he gave.

Theo says T3 Code now has over 400,000 users. That is the entire disclosure. No revenue, no paid conversion, no retention, no activation rate, no split between people who tried it once and people who opened it this morning.

It is worth being precise about what a number like that is. Four hundred thousand users is a reach figure. It tells you how many people got far enough to be counted, and in developer tooling that bar is usually low, often a download or a sign-in. It does not tell you how many of those people are still there a month later, and it does not tell you whether any of them pay.

What the number does tell you

Distribution, mostly. Getting hundreds of thousands of developers to try anything is hard, and most products that launch into that market never see a fraction of it. If you are a solo founder shipping a dev tool, the interesting question is not the headline, it is how someone gets that many people through the door at all. Theo has not broken that down either.

What it does not tell you

Whether this is a business. A free tool with 400,000 users and a tool with 400,000 paying customers are the same sentence and completely different companies, and nothing in the post separates the two. Founders read these milestones and quietly benchmark themselves against them, which only works if you know what is being measured.

The business read is that user counts are the cheapest metric to publish and the least informative one to receive. They are real, they are usually accurate, and they survive contact with a screenshot in a way that revenue and churn do not. Until someone attaches a conversion rate or a retention curve to the figure, treat it as evidence of reach and nothing more. Nobody outside Theo knows the rest yet.
