Tibo ships three playable apps inside X posts

A tower defense game, a multiplayer pile and a newsletter signup, all running without leaving the timeline.

Tibo says he has shipped three interactive pages that run inside an X post, three days after seeing @tarasshyn do it. The list is a multiplayer pile where you throw other people, a red pill vs blue pill tower defense game, and his own newsletter signup, which he embedded in the card under the post and asked people to try.

The part worth copying is that he posted the full setup rather than just the demo. It comes down to four things. Add the player card meta tags to your page, with the card type set to player, a player URL that X loads inside the post, width 640 and height 480, and an image for the poster people see first. Let X embed the page by adding a frame-ancestors header that allows X and removing any X-Frame-Options. Post the exact final URL, https with www and zero redirects. Then build for the sandbox, because X runs the page in a locked frame where forms do not submit, so you send with fetch, there is no login, and links open in a new tab.

He also flags a design constraint most people will hit on the first try. Desktop viewers get the page running inside the post. Mobile viewers see the image, tap, and then X's own panel covers the bottom 30% of the page, so anything important needs to sit above that line.

The business read

The game is the demo, the signup form is the point. An email capture that someone can fill in without leaving the feed removes the click out to a landing page, which is the step where most of the traffic from a good post quietly disappears. Tibo has not published any numbers on what the embedded signup converts at, so nobody knows yet whether it beats a plain link.

It is not a brand new trick. levelsio earlier got Windows XP running inside an X post. What is new here is somebody writing down the recipe and pointing it at a signup form.
