Marc Lou says 912 people finished his sponsor puzzle game

A sponsor handed him $30,000 in API credits, so he built a 15 minute game that ends in an email address.

Marc Lou turned a sponsorship into a game. He says Higgsfield gave him $30,000 in API credits to make marketing videos with AI models like Seedance, and rather than just spend them, he built a puzzle that starts inside a tweet and takes roughly 15 minutes to solve. Finish it, verify your email, and you are in the draw for one of 30 prizes of $1,000 in credits, picked randomly within 48 hours.

The numbers he posted afterwards are the interesting part. 1,502 people found the first clue and 912 finished, which he calls 58% completion. That is a high finish rate for anything that asks a stranger for fifteen minutes of attention and then an email address on top.

The structure is the steal

The money here never came out of Marc Lou's pocket. A sponsor's budget funded the prize pool, the prize pool funded the game, and the game's only exit is a verified email he keeps. The sponsor gets distribution, the players get a shot at credits, and he gets a list of people who proved they will work for something rather than just click.

This sits on top of the same Higgsfield deal behind the body sponsorship he ran earlier. In the post he says the company spent $68,000 on his body and rented him a car to drive to the Hyrox venue, which is how he describes his transformation into a billboard being complete.

His own read on it is broader than the game. He says companies sponsoring individuals the way they sponsor YouTubers was not happening when he joined X in 2021, and that friends outside the indie hacking bubble are now talking about building internet businesses solo.

One caveat worth holding. These are one founder's numbers from one experiment, self reported, with no independent check, and Marc Lou already has an audience large enough that a puzzle in a tweet finds 1,502 solvers. The mechanic is copyable. The reach is not.

This little sponsorship experiment made me realize AI has pushed solopreneurship mainstream.
