Tibo's X data says posts about his kids beat posts about his products
Eight findings from one founder's own account, with the medians attached.
Tibo pulled the numbers on his own account and posted eight things that actually work on X. He says he has posted more than 6,000 tweets since 2020 and built an X growth tool that he sold for $10m, so the advice comes with receipts rather than vibes.
don't ask in the hook. declare. my question hooks underperform
talk about your life more than your product. posts naming my products: 77 likes median. posts about my kids, the chalet, the plane: 167
The headline finding is the one founders will not like. Posts naming his products have a median of 77 likes. Posts about his kids, the chalet and the plane have a median of 167. Same account, same audience, roughly double the engagement for the stuff that has nothing to do with what he sells.
The rest of the list
Replies beat posts while you are small, he says. His own framing is that a post gets 50 views and a good reply on a viral post can get 50k. Long beats short, with posts over 600 characters outperforming his one-liners, which he describes as lottery tickets where a few go mega viral and most die. Putting a real dollar amount in a post produces his best performers.
On hooks, he says declare rather than ask, because his question hooks underperform. If a post flops in the first 30 minutes, he tweaks the hook and reposts, and says one of his went from 7 likes to 380 that way. Bookmarks follow usefulness, not cleverness. His most bookmarked post, at 19,069 bookmarks, was a guide he shared with notes.
Underneath all eight points he puts one rule, which is consistency and never missing a day.
The business read
This is one account's data, not a study, and Tibo is also selling something. The post ends with a pitch for SuperX, his webapp and extension, which makes the whole thing part growth advice and part marketing. That does not make the medians wrong, but a founder reading it should treat the numbers as what worked for one person with a specific audience of builders, not as a law of the platform.
The useful part for a solo founder is the trade the data implies. If product posts get half the reach of personal ones on an account built on startup content, then the distribution you are building is attached to you rather than to the thing you sell. That is cheap when you are small and awkward later, when you want to hand marketing to someone else or sell the business. Tibo is not claiming otherwise. He just measured it.
