Engineer says his team ships Claude output nobody reads

A first-person account of what happens when shipping speed becomes the only metric a team is measured on.

An engineer posting as @v0xium says that half a month into a new role at a big company, the specs, code, tests, PRDs, tickets, the resolution of those tickets and the reports are all made by Claude Code. Nobody on the team likes it, he writes, and they are being pushed to ship as much as they can anyway.

The detail that makes the post land is the management line he says he has heard more than once. Pushing code is not a bottleneck, so why are we slow. His answer is that people are working 12 to 13 hours a day just to press enter, and that from L1 to L7 everyone is doing the same job, which is talking to Claude.

What he says is actually broken

It is not that the model writes bad code. It is that nobody looks at the code at all. He says nobody is reading anything, nobody is resolving bugs, and there is no sense of victory in the work. His one stated condition for tolerating the setup is time to check the output and see where things are going, and he says that time does not exist because the goal is to ship no matter what.

Treat this as one anonymous account with no numbers attached. No revenue figure, no defect rate, no company name, nothing a fact checker could independently confirm. What it does offer is a clean description of a failure mode, and one that is easier to spot from the outside than from inside the sprint.

The business read for anyone running a small software company is that the described problem is organisational, not technical. A one or two person team using the same tools reads its own diffs because it eats the bugs directly, and nobody above it is measuring output by the number of pull requests opened. The moment shipping volume becomes the metric, review becomes the cost centre that gets cut. Whether that is happening at scale across the industry, nobody in these sources knows.
