Vercel says Jev hit 13% of teams on day one
The fastest model adoption in AI Gateway history, at twice the rate of the GPT-5.6 family.
Vercel says Jev was adopted faster than any other model in AI Gateway history. In the first day, the model reached roughly 13% of teams on the gateway, which Vercel puts at 2x the GPT-5.6 family and 6x Fable 5.1.

That is a distribution number, not a quality benchmark. AI Gateway sits between apps and model providers, so what Vercel is measuring is how many of its customer teams pointed at least some traffic at a new model within 24 hours of it being available. Switching there is close to free, which is exactly why the spread is worth watching. Nobody had to rebuild anything to try it.
Rauch's read
Guillermo Rauch, who posted the chart, is not claiming the model won on merit alone. He called the data and the anecdata shocking, said he thinks it is a great product, and then added the part founders should sit with. The surge, he reckons, is downstream of the mood that AI is too expensive and too slow.

That is a demand signal about pricing more than about intelligence. If a cheaper, faster model lands and 13% of teams route to it on day one, the backlog those teams were sitting on was never a capability problem. It was a unit economics problem. The features were designed, costed, and shelved because the per-call price did not survive contact with a margin.
What it lines up with
It matches what operators have been posting themselves. We covered the earlier cost figures founders shared for running classification work on Jev, and the numbers were small enough to make previously silly ideas look reasonable.
Two caveats before you read too much into the chart. This is one gateway's first-day data, published by the company that runs the gateway, and first-day trial is not retention. Whether those teams are still on Jev in a month is the number nobody has yet.
