Pigford says a week of sales came entirely from Twitter DMs
An unannounced product, no public launch, and a founder putting a number on his own confidence.
Josh Pigford says a product he has not shown publicly yet has done all its sales through Twitter in its first week. "one week in and all sales done through twitter. unreal," he posted.
one week in and all sales done through twitter. unreal.
In an earlier post he said he is about 97% certain, based on current demand, that the thing will be at $1m ARR (annual recurring revenue) by end of month, and that this is before he flips the switch on a wider release. He has not said what the product is, only that he cannot wait to show people next week.
What is actually in the numbers
One number is a sales channel, and it is real. Every sale so far has come through Twitter, which in Pigford's telling means DMs rather than a landing page, an ad or a launch post. That is a distribution fact, not a revenue fact.
The other number is a forecast, and it is Pigford's own. Ninety seven percent certain of $1M ARR by month end is a confidence level about a projection, not money in the account. He has not published current revenue, pricing, customer count or what the product does, so there is nothing here to check the forecast against. If it lands, the retelling will be that a founder sold a seven figure product out of his DMs before launch. If it does not, nobody outside his inbox will know what the gap was.
The business read
The part worth copying is not the ARR claim, it is the sequence. Selling in DMs before a public launch means talking to buyers one at a time, hearing objections live, and finding out what the thing is worth before a pricing page commits you to a number. The audience does the qualifying, and the founder learns whether people will actually pay while the product is still private. Pigford says demand is growing fast enough on that channel alone that the wider release is the accelerant, not the start.
The part worth discounting is the rest of it. A founder's confidence in his own forecast is the softest number in this publication, and a screenshot nobody can read the axes on is not evidence. Pigford says he will show the product next week. Until then the only verified claim is that Twitter has been the entire funnel, and that is a smaller story than $1M, just a more solid one.
absolute madness how fast it's already growing just via twitter DMs.
